The Faces of “Free-Range” Farming
There is no such thing as humane farming.
This and sad and mostly true, but can I just say that de-horning of cows isn’t painful or brutal (it is even done for the cattle’s own safety and well being) and neither is artificial insemination, nor is it at all rape, and even compared to natural mating between cows and bulls its nothing. Artificial insemination is useful for choosing genes that will not cause defects and it is also time and money saving as a lot of hard to control bulls would be needed to breed a whole farm herd. Also starving chickens wont make them lay more eggs at all.
Safety reasons for dehorning:
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t tolerate or advocate any animal cruelty for the sake of better production.
But I also won’t tolerate or ignore rubbish facts fabricated to scare people into joining causes. and giving money.
"Don’t get me wrong, I don’t tolerate or advocate any animal cruelty for the sake of better production.”
Your “safe” benefits only apply to when animals are being farmed. When animals are being kept too many, too close, solely for the purpose to make the most profit off of them at the faster rate. You even mention time and money in your first defense! Fuck the farmer’s time and money. Dehorning is painful. It even says so on that silly wikipedia page you looked up on dehorning though, that’s really a “no shit, sherlock” moment, ain’t it? Cauterizing, a common method, hurts. Using caustic substances to burn the tissue development and keep it from growing, hurts. Where ever you heard that it didn’t hurt, you are wrong.
Force impregnating a cow, all pent up in a stall with nowhere to go, is rape. Literally one of the “pros” of insemination you have can be paraphrased as “It’s easier to rape a cow with a hand than force a bull on her because she doesn’t want it.” And yet again, all of these facts are from the point of view of benefiting people who are exploiting animals. Fun fact, they could only do it with artificail insemination. Female cows don’t have the bone structure to be mounted so many times in their lives. Their hips would break. This is why bigger, male stand ins are used to collect semen, as seen here.
Sugar coating why people harm animals “for their protection” is the dumbest shit. They only care to protect these animals when it maintains and improves cash flow.

Here’s another proof that you can make delicious vegan patties out of almost everything. I had a can of chili beans, some zucchini and onions. I drained the beans, added chopped zucchini and onions along with some whole-wheat flour and seasoning and fried the patties in hot oil on a hobo grill. They were really delicious!
Vegetarianism would only make sense from a spiritual or symbolic approach. I can see someone saying that it is against their spirituality to consume the body of a once suffering animal, or I can see how the flesh of an animal might be a symbolic cruelty to a vegetarian. But vegetarianism is very divorced from animal rights and as a basic practice pretty divorced from animal welfare as well.
The average ovo-lacto vegetarian consumes enough animal products to equal or even surpass the amount of animal cruelty and environmental decay caused by the average meat eater. By surpass, I mean in cases where people think they must consume more dairy and eggs for “protein” (because of their grave misunderstanding of how nutrition works) because they have cut meat from their diet.
Vegetarianism is not so much a movement, I feel comfortable calling it a diet, since it is not a consistent ethical position at all - it allows some animals, like pigs, to live, while other animals, such as veal calves and battery hens, to die or be tortured for a number of years.
Many young vegetarians still attend circuses and marine parks and wear wool or leather, and some consume things like gelatin. Vegetarianism is to me the stumbling, uncoordinated steps we make on the way to veganism when we are still too young and naive to understand the broader picture.

I do not give a single fuck what carnists have to say to me anymore.
Call me as many pathetic names as you want, pull any bullshit excuse out of your asshole, make shit up about me whatever. Call me a rape apologist. Call me rude. Tell me I’m automatically racist/classist/ableist because I’m a non-apologetic vegan.
But until you stop funding and taking part in the rape, torture, abuse, enslavement, exploitation and murder of others, you don’t get to lecture me on shit. You don’t get to lecture me on compassion, or what’s right or wrong when you’re oppressing billions and taking part in the biggest holocaust our planet has ever seen.
I. Don’t. Owe. You. Shit. Take a look in the mirror and see how wrong you are.
