“PETA says Florida’s “feral” cats are better DEAD than FED. As shelters and health departments nationwide embrace trap-neuter-release programs, PETA remains a stalwart opponent of this humane alternative to killing, arguing that healthy feral cats should continue to be killed.
Now, PETA is fighting legislation that would clarify that TNR is not illegal in Florida. SB 1320/HB 1121 will allow them to be neutered and released to their habitats.

***URGENT, PLEASE REBLOG***
I really, really hate to do this but I am desperate at this point. This is my cat, Steve. He was my mom’s cat for 6 years (my cousin brought him to her after finding him living at an airport in Ohio) and has been my cat for a year and a half or so now. Yesterday Steve became a little lethargic and slowly stopped eating and drinking. We rushed him to the emergency vet and she told us that he had a fever and some abdominal pain and gave us a $1300 estimate that she said could go up to $2400 depending on what she found out. Unfortunately my boyfriend and I don’t get paid for another week and a half (we get paid once a month).
We had enough money put away for emergencies to pay for Steve’s visit and some medication but even if we got paid today our checks wouldn’t be nearly enough to pay the $1300 deposit that she asked for as well as pay our rent. The vet recommended that we take him home and bring him to another vet at 7:30 AM (roughly 3 hours from now) who would care for him for “around half price”. This is what we’re hoping for. The problem is that still we don’t have enough money, which is why I am asking for donations. Every little bit helps. If you could reblog this it would be much much much appreciated! Steve is the best cat in the world and we are madly in love with him — he is my boyfriend’s best friend. Any donations that go over his vet bills will be returned to the sender unless asked otherwise. Send all donations via PayPal to stevesvetfund@gmail.com, please and thank you so much.
